• Every keycap is a one-of-a-kind, hand-crafted piece. Because each is individually sanded by hand, subtle variations in texture and finish are natural and expected.
• For optimal performance, we recommend using our keycaps with south-facing PCBs, Cerakeys are Cherry profile keycaps that may experience interference with north-facing PCBs. Issues from using our keycaps with north-facing PCBs are not covered under warranty.

What Makes Lacquer Keycap Unique?

Unrivalled Lacquer Beauty
Lacquer, an ancient Chinese decorative art and protective coating, is celebrated for its lustrous depth and elegance. As one of China's intangible cultural heritages, this "King of Paints" dates back to Neolithic times.

Lacquer is known for its remarkable resistance to heat, dampness, and chemicals. Lacquer provides a durable finish on our ceramic keycaps and will have greater resistance to the elements, making it a fantastic addition for daily used keycaps.

Chinese lacquer lasts many years without flaking, chipping, or yellowing. The lacquer pattern has a luster and vibrance that adds an abundance of style and energy to your keyboard. Over time, this luster will reveal itself more, which provides an aesthetic appeal to the keycaps.

Rhino-Skin Inspired Patterns
To reveal the beauty of Chinese lacquering to the world, we get the pattern inspiration from Rhino-Skin Lacquerware. The colors of our lacquer keycaps are overlapped, the patterns are like clouds, round flowers, and pine scales, and the layer colors between the patterns are smooth and elegant, like the flowing water, like the ripples of the rain on the pond.

Intangible Cultural Heritage Handcrafted with Artisan Spirit
The Elaborate Art of Lacquer Craftsmanship

Raw lacquer Collection
Raw lacquer is collected manually, the resin is drained from a cut in the living lacquer tree and becomes an opaque white liquid on contact with the air.

Keycap Lacquering Process
The layering process involves multiple drying stages under strict temperature and humidity. Each coat must be completely dry and highly polished before the next is applied, taking over 21 days to achieve the perfect lacquer finish.

Pattern Creation
Patterns are created by applying layers of different-colored lacquer on raised molded lacquer. When polished flat, the pattern emerges, revealing a mysterious appearance.

Precision Polishing
Craftsmen pay meticulous attention to detail, sanding the lacquer smooth and flat to reveal underlying layers, then polishing it to ensure a brilliant luster.

The Making of Lacquer Ceramic Keycaps

Unique Texture And Typing Feel
Lacquer lends our ceramic keycaps a shiny, glossy finish, elevating their visual sophistication. Paired with ceramic’s natural harmonic resonance, it produces a deep, rich, and thocky sound. Every keystroke feels premium, with a satisfying auditory feedback that plastic simply cannot match.
